Laughing and Playing

Hey friends,

Things have been going very well!

There hasn’t been a lot to report lately because things are going smoothly and not much has been happening.

Judah has been growing well. Today, he had a doctors appointment with our pediatrician and got his 4 month vaccinations (yeah, he’s a little behind), but he took ’em like a champ! When we left the hospital he was 12.8lbs and we’ve had some trouble getting his weight up. Two weeks ago we came up with a solid plan with our nutritionist to help Judah gain weight. At that time he was 13.3lbs and today he’s up to 14lbs! We are planning on increasing his amount of calories and the volume this week. Since he was born, Judah has always had a difficult time adjusting to food increases. Please pray that he will be able to adjust quickly and continue growing.

Judah is progressing well in the areas that “normal” babies do. His head control, hand-eye coordination, and curiosity are all progressing really well. He’s beginning to sit up for a few seconds and even play with his toys. Over the weekend his aunt Mary got him laughing and we caught it on video (below). Few things in life bring as much joy as seeing him so happy. We’re truly grateful for our Judah. He’s the best kid ever!

Please continue to believe with us for healing in Judah’s body. For his heart, his lungs, his diaphragm and all the little things as well.

Thank you all so much for following our story and praying for our Judah!

Much love,
Nick & Liz

Dedication Day!

Hey everyone!

We’ve had a good few weeks! Judah will be six months old this coming Saturday. We can’t believe it’s been that long already. God has been so good to us since he was born. We are so grateful to have him in our lives!

This morning we had Judah dedicated at our church. For those of you that aren’t familiar with this, I’ll give a brief explanation. Liz and I brought Judah to the front of the church, along with both sets of our parents, and our pastor asked us a few questions – basically if we would commit to raising Judah according to Biblical standards, to which we said, “yes”. Then the church leaders came around us and we all prayed for Judah. We were really thankful to have almost 40 people from our family and friends join us for the service and lunch afterwards. It was a long but very good day.

This week we took him to see his cardiologist at Strong. Judah is doing well but they’d like to see him grow a bit more. He’s currently about 13 lbs.  They’d like him to catch up to the average weight for his age which would be about 16 lbs. We’re concentrating his formula to give him more calories so hopefully that will help him catch up.

At this point we think his second surgery (the Glenn) will be sometime in July. We really won’t know until we get closer to that time. What they are looking for is mainly weight and height gain. He currently has a conduit in his heart that he’ll outgrow. As we get closer to the time, his oxygen saturation numbers will begin to decline and he will appear “bluer”. Right now, we’re just happy to have him home and getting to spend so much time with him. It’s such a joy to see him grow and change. We love being Judah’s parents!

Please be praying for Judah’s continued good health. It’s very important that he stays healthy for his next surgery. Also, please be praying that he’ll be able to gain weight and get up to where they would like him to be. As always, we ask you to join us in believing for a miracle in Judah’s body. We believe our God is able and we will continue to pray and believe for Judah.

Thank you all so much for your continued prayers and support over the past six months. We are so blessed by all of you!

Much love,
Nick & Liz
